According to “Webster’s New Law Dictionary”, a casual staff member is one who is “an employee of less than full-or part-time status; an occasional or temporary employee”. Empolyers are looking for temporary employees (temps) to fill in the gaps when the permanent employees are missing (away for business or ill), so the casual staff ofter cover the full time and part time staff in many and different capacities.
One of the most common and important problem all over the world is that employers consider mainly the temporary part of peoples jobs: the employers know the casual staff is going to be replaced sooner than later and they try to exploit them as good as they can. They often don’t offer any benefits of job security for their temps, considering that if the staff don’t like the conditions there are many others that can easily replace them.
